I am obsessed with trains. Daddy surprised me and brought me home this Christmas train that I have been eyeing at Home Depot for weeks! I play with it every time we go in to the store. Lucky for me, he bought one before they sold out. We put it together tonight and I watched it go round and round screaming every time it came back to me. I love it and am so blessed to have such a great dad! I know we will enjoy the Christmas train for years to come!
Mom and Dad have had Christmas parties all weekend. Friday when Daddy got home from work, Mom said "I have to get ready. You are in charge." This always means fun times. Well, I guess Daddy needed to get ready too so he stuck me in their tub and turned the water on and let me splash as much as I wanted in my clothes!! It was so fun. Mom tried to ignore all that was going on but I think she thought it was funny too! Daddy couldn't stop laughing at me. I loved it!
There is a man who lives in Cary who is also named Clay Councill! If you are a baseball fan, you may have heard of him. He is the one who Josh Hamilton brought to the Home Run Derby at Yankee Stadium to pitch to him during the All-Star game this summer. Clay (the elder) coached Josh here in high school. We heard about him through Goose and Josh and when we moved here, Clay (the younger) knew he wanted to meet Clay. Well, it finally happened! Daddy called up Clay and introduced himself and Clay came by the store to meet him. Small world that someone shares your name, spells it the same, you know people in common and live very close to each other!
The elder Clay is such a local celebrity here that I have been in stores and people have seen my credit card slip with my last name and asked if I was related to Clay Councill. The first time I said "yes, he is my husband!" But then the clerk gave me a funny look and said, "really??" looking at my obviously pregnant stomach!! Then I realized who she was talking about and told her of the shared name! Now we laugh about it!
And I love to pat her belly and say"baby" and give it kisses, which is what is happening here...
We got our first snow the other morning! I was very excited but wasn't happy when mom wouldn't let me play outside. I didn't think it was that cold! If you look closely in these pictures, you can see the snow!
I feel like I have been a slacker with the blog lately. Its seems all my free time is spent resting instead of blogging. So we will try to catch up a little here.
Last weekend, I met two of my high school friends- Robin Meyer Haupe and Clarice Berry Cawood at the mall in Durham for a visit. We let Jack run around the playground while we chatted. it was so fun to see them and catch up! There is nothing like people who have known you so long- just a little reminder of home when you aren't there anymore! Clarice snapped this picture of me and Jack and I just love it. There aren't many flattering photos of me these days so we got lucky here. We even blew up and gave it to Clay for his birthday which was Friday. November reminds us all to be thankful but I have even more reasons to celebrate this month. My mom's bday was the 6th and then Jack's on the 8th and Clay's the 21st. And then Clay and I will celebrate our 4 year anniversary on the 26th. What a wonderful month for our family!
Jack is becoming more verbal by the minute. It happened over night- just like everyone said it would. I found him in my closet this morning going one by one over my shirts saying "mine, mine, mine." Yep, that is his latest favorite word. Other often said phrases include "all right!", "let's go!" and "i don't know." He talked the whole way home from church today- just blabbering away about who knows what but Clay and I were just laughing the whole time. Clay's parents gave Jack the Little People Mayflower ship for his birthday (very cute!) and it comes with three pilgrims. Jack will take them and put them on the ship and have conversations with them. It is so fun to see his imagination at work. Yesterday he added the horses from his farm and giraffes from Noah's ark to the mayflower. Apparently the pilgrims needed some pets! We love these moments with him and are cherishing them as we know that when the baby gets here we will not be able to devote ALL of our focus to Jack.
He loves playing with the kids on our street, most of whom are much older. Today when we pulled in the driveway from church, 3 of them were outside. They are high school boys who play football in our backyard alot and are so sweet to Jack. He was screaming "hi guys! hi guys!" and jumped out of the car to follow them down the street. When we called him to come back to us he looked at the boys and then looked at us and took off after the boys who were 3 houses away by this point. He was determined to go with them. So cute!
Apparently, I love Santa so much, I do not think it is appropriate to eat off of him.

I turned two on Saturday. I am such a big boy now. We had a fun party with some of my friends. Below are my football cakes that I helped mom with. Didn't we do a good job?
